The Department of Consumers Affairs,Goverment of West Bengal is responsible for the protection of interests of the consumers in West Bengal.

The Department of Consumer Affairs was set up in September'1999 for protecting the interest of consumers.

21 District Fora, State Commission, the Legal Metrology Organisation and a newly set up Directorate of Consumer Affairs & Fair Business Practices are functioning under this Department.

The Directorate of Consumer Affairs & Fair Business Practices has 25 Regional Offices of the Assistant Directors of Consumer Affairs & Fair Business Practices and 3 Regional Centres for Consumer Education & Fair Business Practices situated in the districts and two sub-divisions.
